A regularity rally is about precision and consistency, not speed. While exact rules can vary by organiser, the core requirements are generally the same. Here’s a clear overview you can use or adapt for the Mampoer Regularity Rally:
Eligible vehicles & drivers
1. Eligible Vehicles
Veteran, vintage, classic, or other approved historic vehicles
Vehicles must be roadworthy and comply with South African road regulations
Valid licence disc and registration documents required
2. Driver & Navigator
A licensed driver is mandatory
A navigator/co-driver is usually required to manage timing and instructions
Both must comply with event safety and conduct rules

3. Vehicle Safety & Condition
Vehicles must be in a safe mechanical condition
Working lights, brakes, steering, and tyres
Seatbelts were originally fitted
Fire extinguisher recommended (and sometimes required)
4. Timing & Navigation Equipment
At least one accurate timekeeping device (watch, stopwatch, or rally clock)
Route instructions (provided by organisers)
Basic odometer or trip meter (original vehicle odometers are acceptable)

Competitors must maintain prescribed average speeds, never exceeding legal limits
The aim is to arrive at the control points at the exact scheduled time
Early or late arrival results in penalty points
